Chester is a city in Delaware County with a population of 36,854 at the 2000 census. It is situated on the Delaware River, between the cities of Philadelphia and Wilmington, Delaware. Chester is one of the county’s more well-developed areas, and is primarily a residential community with some commercial activity. The community is served by the Chester-Upland School District, which offers an excellent vocational department. Recreational programs revolve around community programs and spirit, local parks, tennis courts, ballfields, playgrounds, and conservation areas.
